New Junior Organiser

Our newly appointed Junior Organiser, Brian Bentham, hosted a Junior Meeting on Wednesday 7th July to meet all the juniors at Burstwick, and tell him about his fantastic ideas for the Junior Section at the club.

Brian is in charge of organising junior events & competitions , as well as managing our team in the East Riding Junior League (which is currently doing very well!).

Our first Junior competition will be held on Sunday 25th July from 1pm.

If you are interested in taking part please contact Brian on 07757 325012 or come into the clubhouse and put your name down on the sheet on the Junior Board.

The Insurance Partnership Classic Pro-Am - Thursday 12th August 2010

The most prestigious competition in our calendar is approaching fast, and with prizes including £10,000 for a hole in one and £1,500 first prize there's no wonder the event is due to be the biggest Burstwick Country Golf has ever seen!

It promises to be a fantastic day with fantastic golf, delicious food and awesome prizes up for grabs!

Mixed Open Results

Burstwick Country Golf's first annual Mixed Betterball competition was on Thursday 1st July and was well attended for our first event of it's kind.

Cameroon are World Cup 2010 Winners!

After an extremely successful World Cup Am-Am match at Burstwick including 22 teams competing for the prestigious cup, Cameroon were the team who made it to the top and became victorious.

With 87 points, Cameroon pipped Ivory Coast who had 86 points to the top spot in what was a fantastic event at the golf club.

Following the golf all of the teams stayed to enjoy a delicious barbeque cooked by Hot Trotters whilst watching England vs USA in the clubhouse on the big screen TV.

The "Best Dressed" award went to Mexico for their effort which included moustaches, cigars, sombreros and even a real guitar which kept the entertainment going through the night well after the England game had finished!

All in all everyone enjoyed a great day with fantastic weather, great golf and an electric atmosphere in the clubhouse.

World Cup Open Am-Am - Saturday 12th June

£25 per person! (4 players to a team) - ONLY A FEW TEAM SPACES LEFT!

Entries are limited to 32 teams of 4 (of which most are taken already), and each entry will be allocated a World Cup team and will equip themselves in fancy dress for each country.

Shortly after the round there will be a barbeque meal and players will be able to watch England's first match against USA in the clubhouse whilst enjoying a few drinks! Fantastic Prizes to be Won!

Team entry includes the BBQ, 18 holes and a bacon roll beforehand. The format will be Am-Am Stableford from 3/4 handicap.

Last Chance to Book Open Weekend!

The Open Weekend on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th June has proven very popular and tee times (at £5 per round) have been fully booked up to mid afternoon on both days, so now is the time to get your time booked if you haven't already by calling (01964) 670112!

There are just a few free taster lessons with Stewart Fraser in his Tuition Studio on the weekend but golfers are reminded that up to 3 people at a time are welcome to observe while Stewart is delivering his free lessons. Stewart's free lessons include video analysis, launch monitor technology and 10 years worth of teaching experience, to book the lessons with him call (07852) 973173.

As for the PING demo day, players will be able to try various different brand new clubs on the driving range at no cost (other than range balls). Come along and see which clubs work for you, will it be G15, i15 or Rapture V2?!

Ladies Invitation Day Went With a Bang!

Our Lady Captain Karen Batty hosted our Ladies Invitation Day on Wednesday 19th May where 24 ladies enjoyed the fantastic sunshine and played some great golf, followed by a buffet and drinks in the clubhouse.

The ladies enjoyed a Fourball Betterball Stableford competition and each pair was made up of a member and visitor, along with a nearest the pin on hole 17.

The winners on the day were as follows:

Stewart Fraser's Tuition Studio at Burstwick Country Golf is now up and running for golf tuition for members and visitors.

Golfer have been wowed by Stewart's State-of-The-Art technology including the renowned Trackman launch monitor and GASP golf analysis software. Players hit balls from the mat either into the net or through the roller-shutter door out on to the range and Stewart can replay their swing in slow motion, compare with other players' swings, tell the golfer launch angles, club head speeds, spin rates and much more.

Not only can players find out all this information about their golf, there is also a tv embedded into the floor just infront of the mat where golfers and view their swing LIVE whilst making their adjustments - a fantastic way of seeing what they are doing and how they progressing.

New PGA Room in "T minus 10 days"

Stewart Fraser is starting at the club on Monday 19th April 2010, and to accompany him at the club will be the new-look PGA Indoor Teaching Arena which will be finished by Monday 26th April.

The existing indoor room is currently being extended by 3 metres, creating a whopping 18 square metres of extra area. Why? I hear you ask! Stewart's state-of-the-art teaching equipment requires more room and the old area just wasn't big enough - and believe me, his equipment is fantastic so the room just had to "give"!

The addition of 3 extra video cameras, a market-leading launch monitor which tells you distance, spin rates, launch angle & speed and much more, a monitor embedded into the floor directly behind the tee so you can "See Your Swing, As You Swing!" and a hitting net for those cold days when you just don't want to hit out onto the driving range mean that Stewart's room promises to be one of the best teaching facilities in the Hull & surrounding area.

Halfway House Almost There!

The half way house is on its way and is expected to be finished in the next 3-4 weeks. The concrete base is down as is the drainage, so we are now awaiting the delivery of the log cabin.

The cabin is 4x3m and will feature male & female toilets and a shelter for golfers. We are also looking at having the half way house manned on days such as our open competitions and Captain's Day.

Entries are limited to 32 teams of 4, and each entry will be allocated a World Cup team and will dress in the appropriate colours (white t-shirts for England, blue for France, etc).

After the round there will be a barbeque meal and players will be able to watch England's first match against USA in the clubhouse whilst enjoying a few drinks!

Ryder Cup 2022 coming to Burstwick

Burstwick Country Golf Secure Ryder Cup 2022

After 4 years of planning Burstwick have finally secured the coveted Ryder Cup for the year 2022. In the next 12 years there is £18.4m worth of investment to be spent at the club, including a health spa, 100 room hotel, and some major alterations to the course.

David Key and family have had this goal set for a number of years and have been working hard behind the scenes in a bid to become Yorkshire's leading club. Now the Ryder Cup has been confirmed they will be launching a bid for The Open in 2025.

Among some of the great attributes that Burstwick had in the plan to win the 2022 bid, the Ryder Cup organisers particularly like the ease of access to the club, the fantastic layout of the course and great practice facilities which the likes of Rory McIlroy, Ricky Fowler and Anthony Kim will be using at the event. A spokesman for the Ryder Cup said "the potential at Burstwick is like something we have never seen, a few alterations on the course to take the overall yardage to 7200 yards and the installation of several hundred large trees means this course will be one of the best in the world".
