The weather turned out beautiful for the Karen Batty's Lady Captain's Day on Wednesday 25th August. The ladies turned out in their best golf gear to try and become victorious in the competition.

After the golf the ladies enjoyed a buffet and many a glass of wine between them with lots of laughs and some great banter.

Sue Grindall managed the best gross of the day and took the Lady Captain's Trophy home with her on what was a fantastic day for the ladies. Well done Sue!

The weekend 21st & 22nd August 2010 saw Burstwick Country Golf's first Club Championship take place, with many golfers at the club playing to get their name on the most prestigious trophies in the cabinet and become the Club Champion for 2010.

Pictured above: Matty playing a chip shot on the 5th hole.
After the lowest score of 72 on saturday, the 5 handicapper put himself in great position for the final round with a lead of 1 shot over Pete Etherington. The wind got up on day 2 and really tested some of the players and half way through the round Matty's lead had grown to 2 shots. He then continued to shoot a bogey-less back nine of one under par to card a 75 on the final day.
Second place went to Captain of the club Alan Key who shot the lowest score on the final day of 74, placing him at 10 over par for the championship after a disastrous triple bogey on the first hole of the first day.
Lowest handicapper Lee Webster shot two consecutive 75s to earn himself third place but was disappointed with his overall performance on the weekend, being favourite to take the cup.
| Pos | Name | Scores | Total |
| 1 | M. Davies | 72 75 | 147 |
| 2 | A. Key | 76 74 | 150 |
| 3 | L. Webster | 75 75 | 150 |
| 4 | P. Etherington | 73 81 | 154 |

Insurance Partnership Pro-Am was Fantastic Success

Over one hundred golfers descended on Burstwick Country Golf for the club’s second annual Classic Pro-Am – but the golden prize of £10,000 for a hole-in-one eluded them all!

Sponsored by the Insurance Partnership, it was held on Thursday 12th August and was an outright success.
Alan Key, Marketing Director, said:
“It was a fantastic day. We had 30 teams, that’s 120 golfers in total, all competing for thousands of pounds worth of prizes. The winning professional was Tony Skingle (below) who shot a fantastic 5 under-par 65. Our own team came in with a score of 14 under-par (126) which meant we were pipped to the post by 3 away teams who all shot the lowest score of the day of 125.”

Burstwick’s resident PGA professional Stewart Fraser could only muster up a 3 over-par score of 73 on his own course. He said:
“The greens were the best I’ve ever seen them, running true and stimping at around 10 feet, but my putter just wasn't hot on the day!”
There were a few “holding breath” moments over the course of the day when a handful of players came close to winning the coveted £10,000 hole-in-one prize on the short 5th hole when they managed to get the ball within 5 feet – but, sadly, no-one was able to take the glory and get their name in the headlines!

Many prizes were won on the day, though, including PING G15 drivers, PING putters, golf bags, sweaters, T-shirts, LCD TVs and over £3,000 (cash for the professionals).

In the meantime, Burstwick Country Golf and The Insurance Partnership are looking forward to their next Classic Pro-Am 2011.
Alan Key said:
“There’s been such a great buzz about this year’s competition and we have high hopes of signing up well over 40 teams for our next Pro-Am. Our new clubhouse will also be completed by then, so there’s a lot to look forward to!
“Finally, we’d also like to thank everyone who made the day a success and to congratulate the top 6 prize-winning teams, as well as the 10 professionals whose golf earned them some well deserved prize money.”
